Arsenal-owned midfielder James Olayinka made his professional debut for Northampton Town in a 3-0 win over Scunthorpe United on Tuesday evening, going the distance in the clash in some style and thus, manager Keith Curle had nice words to say about him. The teenager started the move which led to his side’s opening goal on the night, spreading the ball out wide to Nicky Adams whose cross was headed into the
bottom corner by Oliver after just seven minutes. Curle was effusive of his team’s performance at the
PTS Academy Stadium and singled out the Nigerian alongside Callum Morton for special praise, particularly how they were able to adapt quickly to the
rhythm of the game.
“It was another challenge we faced with the new lads coming in but I think the group has shown real strength of character,” Curle told the club’s official website post-match .
“There is a real togetherness in the group and I think the new players have enjoyed their welcome.
“Good players pick up different systems very quickly
and I think you saw that with James and Callum tonight.
They are both hungry for games and I think we are the perfect fit for them right now.”
Following their win against Scunthorpe United, Northampton Town are sixth in the League Two table with 49 points.
